About PSDP
The Private Sector Development Project (PSDP) was launched in October 2007, to promote and facilitate the operation of the private sector in Yemen at both the national and regional levels. Its interventions are intended to be implemented during two phases (2007-2010/ 2010-2013).
PSDP builds on more than 30 years GTZ experience in Yemen.Since the 1990s, GTZ has worked in the field of SME promotion and private sector development.Besides direct contact with entrepreneurs and private sector associations, GTZ has cooperated with the responsible ministries and their associated institutions in order to improve business conditions.
How PSDP Works
To achieve its assigned mission and to realize its ambitious objectives,PSDP-like all GTZ projects -operates on the basis of an implementation agreement signed with Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC). In its work, PSDP follows certain principles:
GTZ applies a multi-level-approach and thus works on the macro, meso and micro level, as well as on both national and regional level.
Consensus building with all partners through signed cooperation agreements is a key feature of GTZ.
Interventions are based on request and planned in detail together with the partners.
Predictability and planning of interventions are ensured through a general plan of operations while allowing a large degree of flexibility in response to changing partner priorities and new ideas.
Systematic and result-oriented monitoring and evaluation are applied to all PSDP interventions.
Close coordination of interventions with other donors and joint activities ensure synergy and mutual benefit.
